HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
In my character design class, we were tasked to design characters from a piece of literature. I chose Fahrenheit 451, a story that resonated with me when I read it in high school. Since the story was published in the 1950s, I tried to evoke 50s vibes in the designs.
Funny story: When I first read Fahrenheit 451, I thought it was about censorship. Turns out, Ray Bradbury's intended message was that TV ruins people's attention spans and makes them not want to read books. (Shockingly relevant in the era of TikTok and YouTube Shorts, no?) I think it's magical when a story is open to interpretation like that. It allows us to connect our own experiences to the story.
Either way, I still think Fahrenheit 451 is a relevant story to this day, and I think it's worth checking out if you've never read it.
