In Ancient Germania, witches and warlocks fresh from a recent war tame the Weave; the very fabric of magic. Young Mayberry, a witch fresh out of magic school, starts curse-ridding work for the powerful Madame Moonglow. After a perilous first job at a haunted manor, she teams up with Marshall, a young gargoyle eager to leave the manor and learn about the outside world. Together, they work as "wonder calmers," taming the Weave and helping to restore order to a world on the cusp of a new magical war.
