The enigmatic realm of Ephialys is one only talked about as rumor within Alanoth. Plenty hearing stories but few if any ever entering it. Those unfortunate enough to find themselves within are treated to a place far beyond their wildest nightmares, where everything they know and hold dear no longer apply. The shifting terrain and confusing non euclidean nature making mapping it out all but impossible.

Contrary to the way it's entered, the realm itself is characterized by it's deathly cold temperatures and it's unending supply of water, putting travelers at a constant risk of drowning. The various creatures nestled within often being aquatic in nature as a result; chief among them being the eight headed horror known simply as Alama.

Another location picture for Spooky Month, this time being the demon realm of Ephialys, the way to get into it is pretty hard and obscure and those that find their way in.......well they wish they hadn't. A general theming is based around nightmares and how little they can make sense in order to create a sense of paranoia, that's reflected in the colors since the area even shifts it's palette as your traverse it to further disorient anyone exploring it. It's about as fun a place to be in as you'd expect; aka not at all. Despite looking like it's underground; it's got a sky, it's raining, and in a fair amount of places that water is straight up upside down for good measure, no mortal logic applies here...

It's also heavily associated with the Lunar Eclipse, a large blood red moon generally being the sign that you're in for a world of shit.
