HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
About:
This is a 3 part illustration of a mashed up Pokémon named Blee. On the top left, we have Jazza and his Charizard getting their ass whooped by Blee and myself, using Blee's special move "One Inch Punch".
On the top left, I added a reference picture of Mew and Machamp, as well as BOTH states of Blee. As the Pokedex entry states, on the bottom, Blee has a passive and aggressive state. Because of the change, I felt it only best to share both.
Details:
This picture has been created as an entry for Jazza Studio's Pokémon MAshup Contest whereas one needs to.... well, one should just head over and read the details here (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1416390) Personally, I mashed up quite a few pokémon sketches, and used elimination to come up with Blee.
NOTE TO JAZZA:
Rule requirement Checkoff:
1)Mashup no more no less than 2 gen1 Pokemon (Check)
2)Include the originals names in the title (Check)
3)You may submit a maximum of 1 entry (Limiting, but check)
4)You may NOT enter both categories (I am nervous about going to the big table, but I accept the chances and risk I am taking.)
5)You MUST include a link in the description of your final submission leading to a ‘mid-development’ source (image for now, video later. http://tinyurl.com/Jazzaisthebest Hope this will do for now)
6)No pornographic material of any kind, violence must be PG13 and not too gruesome (Well, there is a piece of tail... but that's cause Charizard got his ass whooped)
7) Your piece MUST be tagged correctly and be submitted by the deadline (working past midnight. Hope I made it)
8)You may not submit a piece using stolen artwork or imagery (Is...this a thing?)
9) Other people and Pokemon can be shown, but the mashup should be the focus:
For this, I'd like to explain my choice. After looking at all my pokemon and how to share their abilities the best, I thought a demonstration of Blee's move would be the best showcase. However, this meant that I'd either have a hard time showing distance, or be showing Blee's back to the camera. In order to keep him in focus, and yet showcase this, I chose to add more content around the image, all relating to him (main focus in another way). I made this in Inkscape using a lot of Generation 1 anime references, and captured it with 300dpi (should I go 600 instead?). I hope you don't mind, but the image is of your Charizard (you did mention it's your favorite) flying off screen as Jazza (used your avatar and pokemon styled it) is checking out Blee on his gen1 pokedex. Victor B, in the background, has commanded Blee to do a 1 inch punch.
This image has a lot of new experiences that I'd like to thank you for. 1) fully do an illustration of this caliber and mass in Inkscape. 2)Drawing and depicting people in Pokemon's anime style. 3)Participating in an art contest of any kind. 4) Soon, I will edit the video of my progress.... which is again, a first. 5-10) breakdowns of 1-4.
Thanks for the loads of fun with this contest Jazza, as well as the awesome youtubes and tutorials (main source of inspiration as I drew). Please let me know what you think as your opinion would be awesome!
