The drama you show really jumps at your face well, and the fore- and backgrounds are really well placed; there's a nice (and strong) sense of evening that's appreciable. As to the catastrophe aboard the Maria, it seems like a major accident (according to my interpretation of the scene), and that there's a sense of desperation that pours forth like the flames from within, the need to withdraw form a dangerous place.

EDIT: Thanks for the Frontpage guys and gals! Went to sleep after submission last night, woke up and what a great surprise!
13 hour piece, trying new techniques in emulating painting styles in PSD.
The subjective nature of the piece is intentional, I wanted the viewer to make up his/her own mind regarding the fate of USSC Maria, whether the ship was struck or the victim of a terrible accident.

i like it...although i kinda feel sorry for anyone in the city below.
This is gorgeous although I'm a bit of a sucker for anything involving spaceships. :3 the second ship almost looks alien compared to the first though so I would say It struck the Maria down. That's just my draw on it.
