It doesn't take more than a quick glance to realize that Neera's design in Freedom Planet 2 is very similar to Lilac's. Even though Neera isn't a simple copy-paste job, Lilac was a great starting point. Body proportions are similar and some texture details could be re-used. Their faces are similar enough to make the facial rig process faster than with a new character. So I thought "why the hecc not?"

I had a lot of fun while making Neera. Her outfit in particular was exciting to model and rig, as it was an opportunity to optimize my process. Something I enjoy about working on "clone" or "echo" characters is the challenge of making them different from their base. Specifically their faces. Small tweaks here and there go a long way, and Neera's face is lovely. Her staff was another opportunity. It's not often that I have to model rigid accessories. Overall, this is one of my favorite projects.
