Alton Towers moment
Meet my humanizations of Alton Towers' two highest-intensity rollercoasters - Tyler (The Smiler) and Olivia (Oblivion) Towers! They live and work with all their other siblings at Alton Towers Resort, and are just one part of an entire species of ride humanizations that I came up with, that I could ramble about for a while.
Being the mascot of the Smiler's marketing, Tyler has had a history of just trying to smile through things and neglecting his emotional well-being - which has caused him to take it on the chin especially hard any time something goes wrong with the ride. Luckily, Olivia works right across the courtyard, and is determined to look out for her little brother and get him some help, no matter how much he guilts himself into keeping quiet about his problems. The two of them get up to shenanigans during breaks - she's often full of energy that's pent up from needing to act calm and controlled on the job, and he's got a laugh that gets anyone laughing along with him. For the most part, everyone supports each other amongst the Towers siblings, and while the industry doesn't treat Coasterhumans perfectly, they've got a good life.
These two artworks were part of a larger project where I was going to draw all of the Towers siblings, using the color palettes of the rides they embody (hence the skin colors being represented with gray here). Unfortunately, I still don't have solidified design ideas for any of them except these two, so it sat abandoned until I decided to just call it finished and post these two.
I also churned out some alternate versions of the pics, with white backgrounds and different facial expressions. Here's Tyler with and without his signature face mask:
And Olivia with and without a straight face:
I'm getting pretty close to finishing my next couple of bigger artworks, so the delays will be over soon, hopefully.
