Story time!

An Art Discord I a in has weekly art prompts. This week, it was simply "Fanart" - with the caveat that it had to be something that eas important to you growing up.

I chose Garr from the PS1 JRPG "Breath of Fire III". 

Breath of Fire III was basically my first big, epic RPG adventure and story-driven english language game that I beat. Introduced me to tons of tropes I hd never seen before, really shaped my preference for bright and colorful wild fantasy over Tolkienesque style.

My favorite characters are actually from the 4th game and I did consider drawing them (or the game's antagonist Ryu, who is a more regularly human-looking character), but I wanted to go wild and challenge myself... and besides, in a lot of ways, Garr (pictured) has a character arc that just drives te game just as much as Ryu's. I also used a differeny brush than normal for this, and touched up the silhouette manually rather than simply expanding a selection as usual. 

I am pretty pleased with the result
