The truth of the matter is that the red-headed boy that the fox had known for quite some time, is suddenly acting mature beyond his years. Even while buzzed from drinking too much red wine...
 
He hesitated to say it, but the way Fayne is acting kind of reminds him of his mature cougar-ish kitsune aunt, Karen... But that's impossible, right?
