1 HOUR LATER EDIT: FINALLY DONE.

The one and only artwork is finally here, after 4+ months of work and procrastination. This took a long time and is a very complicated piece, probably my most complex (and likely best) yet. There's a lot to say, so I just tell some interesting stuff from the top of my head.

To address the elephant in the room, yes, this was inspired by meganeko's song, "2k9 battle jam." Unfortunately, I inquired for his permission to use logos and title this piece after that song, so I just chose the next best thing. By the way, the LYN-X GAMES logo is inspired by this one from Artem Solop.

This is the culmination of all the skill, effort, and technical knowledge that I have accumulated up to this point. Radial fill shading. Lens flares. Glow. How to imitate the Designer's Republic (badly). This project already had big dreams when I first started it on a blank canvas, and it just got even bigger going on. I wasn't even exactly planning to add so many background characters, and intended to imitate the style of the 2013-14 meganeko EP covers (esp. boy irl, girl url).

The same month I finished "MACHINE_NOT_ATTRACTIVE", I got to work on this piece, and it looked like... this...

I got distracted by other projects ("---Protodoll---"and "---KudosSai---") as I felt like studying the 1990s Wipeout box art for the sake of this piece, and also to practice shading and develop some characters, logos, and other prototypical ideas. Due to this, months passed with minimal progress, and I ended up deciding to make this my Robot Day entry, albeit a not-so-serious one.

But today, I finally complete and upload this work, "---superstorm assault 2k9---", once and for all, driven by last-minute stress.

Besides Wipeout, there's more inspirational sources than I'm patient enough to count. If you really wanna know the front characters' names, they are, left to right, Ser, Traff, Yokomoko, and Nino. They're based on Earthbound Beginning's EVE, Hatsune Miku, V-1 "John ULTRAKILL", and that cleaner bot from WALL-E, respectively. Some other sources (try to guess for which robots) include Mega Man, Hex (FNF), Swordsmachine, protogens (yep), and the pestilent drones from Cyberpunk 2077.
