The insignia of the Chinese Droid Team lead by Tershal, ILLVEN Interceptor Droid 2334 "The Defective" the entire team is one often tasked with testing prototype weapons and armour, as well as the elimination of particular targets though unlike the Exterminators, the Tau Team is not completely forced to carry out such tasks.

Much like their leader, Tau Team is considered "Defective" as a whole, while Tershal is Defective for being an ILLVEN Droid that was modified after being captured by the resistance during the ILLVEN Legion Era, leading to a very different development into full A.I status. Leading to her having wildly different ideals and behaviour to most other ILLVEN Droids, Tau Team would not get these but would develop similarly regardless to Tershal herself, making this team a considerably massive outlier among the Droid Legion. As such despite the quality of forces still being up to the standards of the Legion, their personalities and anti-ILLVEN state of minds have given them the status of being "Defective".

As such the Tau Team is not tasked with any matters that could put them in a position to sabotage the rest of the Legion, being monitored 24/7 in case they ever decide to rebel and only tasked with testing and killing, no other tasks given to ensure that they cannot compromise the Legion, at least before everyone else can stop them in their tracks before they can actually do anything.
