Himilar (Himiraa) was the Humanoid Dark Horror Monster used by the Zelans' Yamatai allies as the 38th Robot Kaiju and Monster of the week in Episode 33 of the Dino Mecha Gaiking Anime: "The Great Demon Himilar appears".
_Appearances and Abilities_
Himilar is a humanoid Haniwa made statue that comes to life as fully solid entity by the power of a magic mirror and the necklace bestow to the Queen of Yamatai – the ancient civilization that once ruled Japan in the distant past under the original Queen Himiko, herself in fact a Zelan Conqueror who resemble Midori – another example of a Zelan relation to the Pigeonians since their predicament is also related to a Black Hole destroying the planet, and Paul wore a suit that resembled that of the Dark Knights of Zela.
The Monster was brown in color, with a red and brown helmet, grey face and a yellow collar around its neck; it had orange stripes on its shoulder pads, green color arms, red abdomen and wore a black belt with yellow lines adorned with a black and blue shape.
Himilar sport a Sword and a Shield as weapons, the later helped to block projectiles or reflect energy attacks with a reflector on the handle side; it fired colorful beams from its eyes, as well, possessed Super strength for melee combat is needed. The Monster could be still be used without a Queen, but it would look transparent, like a ghost, allowing for physical attacks to go through it, though it can still cause destruction in this form. All these made Himilar indestructible and unbeatable, only stopped when the power of the Necklace was used back at him.
_Story_
The story starts when two officers on patrol encounter a transparent Giant Demon (Himilar) appearing in the middle of Tokyo at night; they try to shoot it with no effect and the Giant kills the cops, then disappears without a trace. Team Daiku Maryu arrives to investigate the matter, tough it not long before they see the Demon in its transparent state, despite this, the Monster attacks by throwing its sword at the Daiku Maryu, still impacting it, then disappears again without a trace. The crew is left befuddled by the supernatural encounter.
The following morning, Sanshiro, Midori Fan Li and Hachiro explore the city to find clues on the Ghost Giant, stopping by a museum – mostly because Hachiro wanted to go site seeing – and look at the exhibitions of ancient artifacts of the Yayoi period, among them a necklace that glows to Midori's presence, attracting the attention of a suspicious Guard, who then kidnaps her while Sanshiro and Fan Li deal with (standard) Zelan Dark Knights (their first appearance in God knows how long); most are taken care off but Fan Li stays behind to deal with the remainder, while Sanshiro goes after Midori and her kidnappers, taking them in a pursuit through the streets of Tokyo with Dark Avian Corp Soldiers trying to shoot the MC along the way; one shoot and kills a Knight and Sanshiro over runs the Jeep then turns around and runs at it in a game of chicken – the driver chickens out and crashes, both he and Midori been tossed out; Sanshiro picks her up and run with the two Avians on their tail and going down a Tunnel, not realizing they had fallen into a trap that goes around in a circle. They ask help from an Officer at his post, who reveals the situation and the city hidden beneath Tokyo – the Yamatai District – the Officer transforms into an Avian and the two make a run for it, but caught in the loop are unable to escape and fall down into a trap hole.
Later when waking up, Midori finds herself in bed, wearing Royal Garments and surrounded by servants, lead by the Prime Minister of Yamatai, calling her Queen; when explaining, the Prime Minister informs her she is related to Queen Himkio by blood. Finding the notion ridiculous, she demands to see Sanshiro who is brought in by guards as a prisoner; He too finds the idea of Midori been related to the Queen ridiculous of her Pigenian origin, demanding proof, the Minister shows him that the necklace glows at the presence of someone of Queen Himiko's blood line; he then puts it on Midori and it glows, causing her to enter into a trance like state and with a Queen back in charge, Yamatai can now claim the surface; The crowd around begins to chant Himilar's name and the Prime Minister then uses a magic mirror which opens a room with a giant statue of Himilar and using the same Mirror, the Statue is fully powered and manifest in the middle of Tokyo, fully solid now, and proceeds to attack the city.
Daiku Maryu shows up and rams the Giant, and a battle ensues between the two; trying to destroy it with the Giant Cutter, though Himilar repels their attack with it Shield and Sword, then kicks it; Pete then fires Miracle Drill Missiles only to be repelled once more with the Shield and Sword. Daiku Maryu makes for another attack run, but Himilar opens fired with its Optic Beams causing the ship to go haywire, it gets smack and dives into the waters of Tokyo Bay. With its weapons damage, Daiku Maryu is forced to retreat for repairs. A Boastful Minister informs Sanshiro that the Himilar in the surface is an illusion and therefor can't be damage, while the real body (the statue) is safe in Yamatai. Sanshiro informs Midori to destroy the Necklace as it serves as the monster's power source, but the Minister keeps her in check with hypnosis and Sanshiro is thrown to prison. Meanwhile, Himilar continues its assault unimpeded on Tokyo, and the Daiku Maryu out of commission with no signs of Sanshiro or Midori, a delighted Emperor Darius can see victory in his grasp, expecting to get off Zela as soon as possible.
Later, the ship is repaired and takes off and arrives, combating the Monster once more, as Sanshiro is taken from prison to a Sacrificial Chamber altar as his life will be given to pray for their success with Midori still in trance, to perform the ritual.
Here there is a brief moment were the narrator interrupts to provide a bit of information about Yamatai and Queen Himiko herself – revealing to have been a Zelan Conqueror of great Psychic power, capable of creating illusions called "Kido". This, along with previous exposition of Midori own Bloodline, further gives another hint of the Zela connection with the people of Planet Pigeon.
Sanshiro is then strap to the table, with Midori about to stabbed him – kept in check by the Hypnosis of the mirror – but in want one can called a "series of unexpected coincidences" thanks to the battle above them between Himilar and Daiku Maryu, the ceiling of the chamber collapses, debris falling over Sanshiro's restraints, releasing him, avoiding been stabbed in time. The mirror is destroy, releasing Midori from its control and the two make a run for it. Midori then tries to destroy the statue with no avail, but Sanshiro grabs it and his a Dark Knight with it; the two made it to the motorcycle and escape, thanks to Midori's own necklace which reveals the exit. (Mighty nice of them Zelans to keep the Bike – they hate the Humans, but love their rides lol). Sanshiro and Midori make it back to the Daiku Maryu and the Gaiking is launched to combat the monster.
Gaiking sword fights with Counter Cross, then Saur Geyser, but is no match for the monster; he fires Hydro Blazer, but Himilar uses the mirror on its shield to repelled and reflect the attack back at Gaiking. At that moment, Midori remembers the Necklace is the power source for Himilar Machine; Fan Li takes it and flies on the Skylar, and throws it onto Gaiking. The Necklace's power transforms into an giant energy sphere (Let's call it for what it is, a Spirit Bomb) and Gaiking throws it at Himilar; the Energy feed back reverberates from the Illusion to the Machine in Yamatai causing a massive explosion that destroys Yamatai and its inhabitants. (note: in the episode, the whole district is stated to be a big as Tokyo, soooo, yeah).
After the battle, Daiku Maryu returns home, flying over the area where Yamatai used to be.
