I think the thumb just adds to the character of the piece. I think it fits perfectly. It feels very abstract, although the thumb is the only thing that's abstract about it. The shading is well placed and all in all I'd say you did a wonderful job. Keep it up, you have the makings of a wonderful artist. I just think it's funny someone can draw a picture of a strange looking being with arms hanging out it's head, and feet hanging out it's mouth and that can be considered beautiful, but you draw a thumb in the wrong place and get criticized, a little backwards I'd say. Thumbs up to you.
