Backstory: The mangoruby is a large magical gem which contains a dark power. When the gem is tampered with, it creates a doppelganger of those within 20 feet of it. Donkey and his nephew Diddy were the poor fools who decided to be stupid and mess with it, creating twisted monstrous versions of them:

Criminy Kong (lower)
