The Astrix were a race that has existed since the beginning of time and live in an immense tower at the center of the multiverse called "the Spire". The multiverse is spread around the Spire in a circle like a pie-chart divided into infinite segments making the multiverse impossible to police for multiversal threats, even for the Astrix, and for this purpose X was created.

X was created with combat in mind and was given an irresistible urge to fulfill his purpose. X betrayed the Astrix and knowing he would be cut off from the Spire's reincarnative properties went on to research the forbidden sciences to find a way to be everywhere at once and in so doing survive obliteration so he could kill as much as possible without restraint.

X has literally turned himself into a hive mind by giving himself the ability to turn his followers into bodies for him to inhabit, and to accomplish this end he has created his own religion that promises immortality, eternal self gratification and something he calls "the infinite X" wherein every being in the universe will feel an amount of sensory fulfillment that is unmatched to anything anyone has or will ever feel, this is all a lie of course. his followers' bodies will slowly change to fit his likeness and their minds and personalities will be overridden over time to facilitate his consciousness, allowing him to continue committing his grievous crimes against life without the threat of retribution.
