Ronin Meets the Heroes - Page 1

About goddamn time, isn’t it?

That’s what I’ve been saying to myself as I upload this piece. This page has been in the works for a truly disgusting amount of time—to the point that I honestly have no idea how long it’s taken me to complete, start to finish. I might not be completely satisfied with it, but the fact that I’ve finished it at all feels like a huge weight taken off my back. I’m learning as I’m going, having read plenty of comics but not actually tried to draw one since I was younger. This came about when I got fed up with only every talking about all my ideas for my OCs and all the details I have in my mind for them, so I want to start dipping my toes into it. Get a feel for this kind of thing, doing sort of test runs and showing rather than telling. I’m a little nervous but undoubtedly very excited.

This is the first page of a short comic I’ll be posting, starring Ronin(the vigilante alter-ego of Zack Yamikage), his nemesis Vulcan, and some new OCs I’m eager to reveal!

First of all, welcome back, I've followed a little on Twitter but it's nice to see you here again.
Talking about your art I've to say that I love how detailed it is and how well you've colored it (it's a shame the site preview is so small, it really cut some of the total quality). Ronin's "rrrr" remainds me to Wolverine or "Pissed-out Batman" when they fight XD
The only "flaw" I see is that (maybe it's because of the rain setting) those scenes maybe require more kinetic lines, Ronin kinda looks like it's suspended in the air in the first frame and his colliding against Vulcan doesn't seem so powerful like it should be.
Overall it's a really nice page, I'd love to see more!

Thank you very much! Your feedback was one of the things I missed the most while I was away working on this, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing your review! I’m glad to be back, and intend to be more present than I have been.
I’m glad you like it, I wanted to step up my game for this. It was a lot of fun making it feel dark and atmospheric! Ronin definitely has some Wolverine and Batman in him, which you’ll see more of as time goes on. But he’s absolutely got their tempers!
That’s definitely the thing I’ve been working to improve most, in both the next page and my art in general. I’m trying to make it feel more kinetic and less static, as I’ve struggled with characters feeling stiff and kind of weightless.
