The redcap (or powrie) is a type of malevolent, murderous goblin found in Border folklore [...] and are known for soaking their cap in the blood of his victims.

I begun this piece by drawing a goblin, then as I worked on the head, I asked myself; what would a sub-species of Goblin look-like? I thought of the Redcaps and what if their hat was part of their biology...?

I made the 'redcap' a mushroom-like growth and at the back of their necks, wrangling polyps.

In the end, it sort of resembled Castlevania's Flea man and I was happy with the end result.

Finally, in my mind, they are less than three feet tall, making them horrible monsters to fight.
