The Hypnotized Damsel

Share

Made some hypnoart of the Damsel from Slay the Princess, a psychological horror visual novel, hence the Mature tag. You might think a hypnoartist would gravitate towards the Tower, but I prefer this demure little angel because the poor thing has no agency and frankly, I feel so bad for her. Look at her!

For context, the game presents you with a princess that's chained in the basement of a cabin, with a dagger provided for you to kill her. The narrator says if you don't kill her, she'll end the world. Sounds simple? Well no, especially if you start questioning the ethics. From what I learned, acting crueler to the princess naturally results in bad, bad things happening to you. Acting more merciful seems to yield better results, though I imagine getting the true ending is something else altogether. The Princess changes depending on how your player character percieves her, making her become all manner of terrifying things like a beast that hunts you, a Goddess who controls you with her voice, and so on. Should you free the Princess, leave her completely unharmed, and basically resist every attempt the Narrator makes to get you to kill her, she's molded into this, a demure, harmless, doe-eyed Damsel with no goals or thoughts beyond leaving the cabin with you and making you happy. As you can guess, that's kinda scary, and even the player character seems disturbed and can ask her what SHE wants, only for her to just keep regressing and saying she wants to make HIM happy.

Your player character also apparently gets voices in their head, and the Voice of the Smitten, naturally, is as hopelessly in love with this Damsel as she is with the player, and I can see why. You'd think a hypnoartist would gravitate towards the Tower, what with her controlling voice, but I'm fully in the Damsel camp instead because she's an angel, she has no free will, and frankly, I feel bad for her and want her to be happy.
