Happy birthday, Miku.
Miku, and volcaloid, has been apart of my life since I was a teenager. There's so many artists I've grown up loving and felt heard by. There's something about volcaloid lyrics that really speak to my soul.
But nobody speaks to me better than Kikuo.
Kikuo is an incredible artist known for making dark and disturbing songs, most notably using Hatsune Miku. You probably know him for Love me Love me, and I'm sorry I'm sorry, (noticing a theme with his classic titles) and he still produces music regularly to this day, just uploading a new piece a couple days ago.
But his greatest work isn't like the others in his discography. His best work is a 38 minute long song, encompassing all of his talent and range into a single experience. Exploring many cultures and sounds, the song takes you places you'd never thought you'd go; and it is a joyous experience throughout.
I won't spoil it, but Miku is featured. And the way he uses her is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
Sight, Noise, Life and the Earth is a song that truly captures and celebrates what it means to be human. I couldn't call any other song I've heard as beautiful as this one. Someday, I'd love to see a bunch of animators collaborate and bring it to life in whatever way they'd like. I think that would be magnificent.
But for today, I captured how this song makes me feel, and what it means to me. There isn't any other way I'd like to say happy birthday to Miku.
Thank you, Miku. For being an incredible tool, and idol, that millions look up to and love. I'll be by your side until the end of my time.
