Test Drawing In Illustrator

So, this is my first time tinkering around with Illustrator and I like it due to it being more easy to draw in than Photoshop. I'm still kind of practicing right now. The one thing I tried to do was attempt some kind of shadowing. I know it's bad but, any insight and/or tips would be good.
