Been learning SDF modeling software like Plastic and MagicaCSG lately. It's fantastic for making simple cartoon characters with strong, easy-to-read shape language, assuming you either don't need to animate them later or have good retopology tools if you do need to rig and animate the models later.

A low poly betty

The retopology made her about 15k triangles, so while that is low-poly for, say, the PS4 or PS5 eras of gaming, that was about the standard for the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. So, more "mid-poly" if you want to be technical. She would certainly make an N64, PlayStation One or SEGA Saturn explode from too many triangles, and that's before you get into the PBR textures I gave her!
