Daemons of Nurgle

Share

A commision based on the warhammer universe. This is a horde of Nurgle daemons , led by a Great Unclean One , Nurgle's most powerful daemon offspring. If you are not familiar with warhammer , shame on you...

Ow look at that fly filled, chronic disease daemon. Truly a work of Nurgle. (Also that smile that damned smile)

Eventually , all four will be given credit through my Acursed Crozius (my pen.)

Fucking raw

You got a character that looks something akin to the Boogeyman from "Nightmare Before Christmas" (if you haven't scene this animated film I highly encourage you to, despite the fanbase insisting on being bleeding twats it's a god damn classic) with his intestines pouring out, machete in tow and a swarming cloud of miasma looming overhead. Couple this with the washed out puke green background and tone throughout and you've successfully created a regurgitated mess only worthy for the highest hierarchy of demons and monsters. (I bet his girlfriends love his long tongue, eh eh wink)

So, clearly the horned cyclop peons are being commanded here by the big cheese. Hopefully my DeLorean never malfunctions and crash lands me in this strange universe. Only real critique here is his horns (which looks a lot like antlers, not sure if they are or not) seem really out of place. Not sure how I'd remedy this...

Btw I'm in fact not familiar with "Warhammer" is this a game? I know you're on a commission basis, but clearly your strong suit is villainous/strange-evil creature design and I'm excited for you. Greatness lies ahead, you just always need to learn and take your prior experience to future projects. Constantly improve and explore the borders of your imagination. (Have you ever considered surrealism? Jaw dropping genre) Finding symbolism out of inanimate objects, conceptual meaning in color choice, positioning, lighting, etc perpetuates and can elevate an artist to a deeper connection between his work and the audience he wishes to project his ideals upon.

Broaden horizons, extend hands, paint long into the night and pray for the mercy of your fellow man. All you can do, really. Fabulous work, by the way, not sure if I mentioned.

Kkylimos responds:

Ha , happy to hear from you again man!

Warhammer and wh40k are a fantasy and sci-fi worlds respectively , both creations of Games Workshop. Their main body is a wargaming tabletop game , you collect miniatures based on many different armies , wasting your fortune playing with your pals haha. However , both wh and wh40k have an immense amount of lore and a tonnes upon tonnes of books and stories based on these worlds. They are very much like Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons if you know them.

All the characters you see here are based on the description and miniatures of certain demons , hence the horns etc. If you are curious , google Great Unclean One and Plaguebearers! Also , i daresay that this piece is rather old and does not represent my current skill. If you like , check in my gallery i have a much recent piece , dedicated to the very same subject. Its good for comparison since they are made with exactly one year between them.

About my characters , i always depict my creations in a paradox way , a mixture of childish innocense and a weird , even macabre state. If you take a close look , you will notice that most of my works tend to be a mix of something insane and innocent at the same time. For example the DiMorteli , even though they are ruthless and hellish , they have a pure bond of young siblings and their design could relate to babies even ( big heads in comparisson to the body , big eyes ). This is not something i bias , its more like a concept that flows from me in my work , something that propably represents my own character.

Again , thank you so much for your kind words and motivation , i shall never stop my pursuit of arthood and i hope i will always deliver pieces worthy of such beautiful comments. And..how on earth would i NOT know Boogey?! Im a Tim Burton fanatic haha!

I love your artwork. I fell in love instantly when I looked through your gallery, and this piece only further cements my appreciation for your amazing skill.

5/5. This is awesome.

Kkylimos responds:

Kkylimos responds:
