Fugu-sensei is a legendary swordsman of the merman clan, but his reputation travels far above the surface too. When he was still young , he invented the "Floating Sword , Slicing Balloon" style , a technique only possible to master underwater. With his swordsmanship, he downed many terrible foes, like Hozuki the Demon Squid and the Southern Sea Pirates. Eventually, his achievements earned him a position among the Ju Reef Council , a group of heroic mermen whose authority comes second only to the clan's Princess'.

As a pufferfish merman , Fugu-sensei possesses an extremely venomous skin. His spikes are especially dangerous since they concentrate the most venom. For that reason, only someone who is also venomous , or has a very potent immunity to venoms, can touch him with his bare hands. That being said , Fugu-sensei's code of honor forbids him from using his venom for offence, since he considers it to be a honorless way of combat. He puts all his trust on his swordsmanship and only uses his venom as a defensive technique. His favorite food is Seaweed Rammen!
