The idea was inspired about two years ago by the fact that Tumblr was banning this phrase on mobile and so the concept of them was kind of “dead”. I don’t know who he’s haunting or how exactly he’s wronged. It’s probably some “sins of your past”-type deal for the kinds of people who were in the thick of the Tumblr Sexyman schtick when it was a lot more prominent. Anyways two years too late but congrats to Sans Undertale or whatever.

Faded-out shadows are something I dabbled with a while ago, and transparent lineart is something I’ve actively avoided in my own work. But both seemed to be pretty fundamental to the kinds of fanart I saw third-hand in Tumblr spaces during the heyday of these sorts of designs. So I figured I’d give the challenge of working with them a go to make it look extra authentic.
