Oh man
Oh, this is hella cute
I re-watched the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie from 1977 yesterday and fell in love all over again. There's something so timeless, moving, and beautiful about the close bond formed between expensive porcelain and humble rags. Their contrast is extremely complimentary!
(Also I'm just a huge gay nerd with a very sappy heart so that's a factor too lmao but shhh)
Oh man
Oh, this is hella cute
It really was love at first sight too! Ann was so infatuated. Just what we need around here! Another darn doll...
ABSOLUTELY!!! And she was so fast to jump to her rescue, zero hesitation! Even after she called the room "dreadful" (not fancy enough for her) at first! Ann Always believed with all her sweet lil' heart that Babette was a wonderful doll who just needed time to adjust to her new surroundings, and when she was taken away Ann went into full WE GOTTA GET HER BACK RIGHT NOW!!!! mode And honestly I absolutely LOVE THAT!!! And that nuzzle into her hair at the end??? There's your answer LOL
Also I love how SO many Raggedy Ann fans kinda all agree with this one! We're all on the same page when it comes to Ann and Babette! It's not just us either, my mom (who was in I think the 4th or 5th grade when the movie came out) said that her generation (or at least her and her friends) also thought the same thing when looking back.
AGH I just love them so much!!! I could keep going but I think I should stop lmao
Honestly, I MUCH prefer ragdolls over porcelain dolls... Any dolls with cartoony faces, because human faces are UNCANNY VALLEY, a reason I fear dolls.
At least here, it looks cute, though.
I 100% agree with you there! When Babette was shown in the movie as the actual doll in the live action moments, she was hella creepy. As soon as she got animated along with the rest of them though, she was pretty! But yeah I agree!
I was thinking for a while that this character on the right was Ragatha from TADC lmao
Well Ragatha is based off of Raggedy Ann after all, and Goosworx has talked a lot about what an influence the '77 film was on her work! There's so many direct references and callbacks to Raggedy Ann and Andy in TADC too! Not sure where else she's talked about it other than tumblr and twitter, but the influence is definitely there and SUPER awesome! If you haven't seen the '77 movie yet, I really recommend it! The great (and late) Richard Williams did a lot of the animation work for it too, so it's visually stunning as much as it is fun!
You may not use this work for any purposes.
