I want to do a series of mnemonics for japanese kanji. So I thought it'll be fun to begin with this one:
For context "kuru" is a verb that means "to come", which can be deconstructed into a lid (that the character uses as a holder) and the kanji 米 that by it's own means "rice" . The actual nmenonic is
「In the old times, people harvested their rice not by hand, but by filling their lungs and yelling KURU!, くる!!、来る!!, so the rice would come running and be caught by a lid.」
