Ah, Woolly Bears! One of my favorite types of caterpillar™. (Also known as that weird fuzzy moving candy we used to eat as children. ...Not that I did that or anything...) Did you know that you're apparently supposed to be able to tell how long winter is going to be by examining their fur? I've tried it, I don't think it works.

I absolutely love Woolly Bears! If you are not familiar with them, they are a completely harmless caterpillars that are able to freeze over during winter if they are not able to finish their life cycle! They're fuzzy and very shy (if you pick one up, they often ball up and "play dead"). They seem to love to come out around the fall-time and I used to see them all the time on campus at school!
