HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Appreciate that plaid. Appreciate it. Done in Voltron's art style
Original description:
Yet another screencap redraw with Steve and Sav, but this time out of uniform! I went this route to add some variety to their wardrobes for whenever I draw them [Sav's is from his official redesign], but I can guarantee you that plaid shirt is not going to be seen very often. I tried to use my own plaid shirt as a reference [albeit it's dark blue but that's not the point here] but I'm pretty sure the patterning is wrong somehow and it killed my wrist. The t-shirt underneath is a white variation of the shirt Steve wore in this month's Throwback From Hell
Steve was a fucking nightmare to draw. If you've seen the WIP images for this piece on my Tumblr [especially this one], you've probably noticed all the eraser marks that were left behind. Yeaahhhhh that should tell you just about everything you need to know about my difficulty with him. Draw, erase, draw, erase, draw, commit, darken, realise it's shit, erase, get salty at the leftover marks, etc. At least in the end I got it right, and thankfully Sav wasn't as much of a chore to draw
I would end my little commentary here, but I have a small story to share here. I scanned this and the previous two pieces on Monday and took them all to PaintShop Pro for cropping and cleanup, as I do with all scanned art [cleanup really is just overuse of the clone tool to iron out eraser marks and minor mistakes here and there]. I was in the middle of cleaning up this piece when I got a call and I realised, "Oh shit, I forgot I'm going to see IT today." I rushed to get the cleanup finished before tossing all three pieces in my sta.sh and getting ready to leave for the movie. It wasn't until I looked back at the piece when I got home that I realised some errors remained, so I figured, "Fuck it, I'll just post it as is tomorrow and let everyone know why it looks like a rushed mess." But then I didn't get the time, and another day passed and yeah, here we are. I gave myself until about now-ish to not only have the time to get everything set up properly, but also take this piece back to PaintShop Pro for more thorough cleanup. Now it looks much more polished. So yeah, were it not for Pennywise the fuckface, all of this would've been finished and posted Monday night
