Have a good balance of certain colors. Make sure they're easy on the eyes. The picture should be easy to read from a glance.

Really nice cartoonish style here. The old ink-dot-pattern highlights are a nice touch. I will unconsciously log this in my brain's "cool robots" area for future reference.
