Maybe the claws were used for mating displays on top of other more obvious uses.

Despite its immense size (almost as big as T.rex), Therizinosaurus is a maniraptor, making it a cousin to much smaller dinosaurs like Velociraptor and Archaeopteryx. This herbivore has the longest claws of any known animal, reaching over a meter long!
That's a cool dinosaur! :D Very interesting and the claws seems dangerous!
