This is simple and pretty old, but I rather like it.
Done with pencil on lined paper, then cleaned up a little (got rid of the lines) in Corel Painter Essentials.
Tips and thoughts are always appreciated.

Yes, they're ghostly flames, though "kitsune", which means "fox, doesn't exactly seem like a fitting descriptor of them. I didn't take any inspiration from Japanese folklore.

This is cool
I really like this. It reminds me of a character my friend made up and always draws. Is she supposed to be sad, because that's what I get from this picture. Sad and alone.
