Another day, another Dark Nights Metal drawing and DC character redesign.

Long-time followers of mine should know all too well that I have a deep, borderline obsessive love for Dark Nights Metal. But even I can admit that it has its flaws, but those don't ruin it for me by any stretch of the imagination. But I have to come clean, there is one thing I genuinely dislike in it. That thing is the design of the Dawnbreaker, the evil Green Lantern Batman.

It's not even the usual case of "this design might not be perfect, but I can still find things I really like about it." It's not even that bad a design, I honestly just don't like it. I think him being dangerously thin makes him look way too weak(granted, it does make some sense, considering he uses energy attacks rather than hand-to-hand combat) compared to his fellow Dark Knights, and whereas all the others have costumes that are either genuinely badass or riding by on the Rule of Cool, the Dawnbreaker is the only one with a costume that I think is outright silly. The goggles in particular stick out to me. Combined with his weird Jonah Hex mouth and grayish skin, he looks like an emaciated corpse with a bunch of junk glued to his costume.

So, I took to redesigning him. I leaned much more heavily into the Green Lantern aspect. The trickiest part was making him look like he could've been one, but not using the bright greens and white they usually have. So instead, I went for a much darker, desaturated green armor, rather than a form-fitting uniform. You might think this is entirely from me, but it's actually based off the look of the animated film Green Lantern: First Flight (which slaps, btw).

Other than that, I changed his physique to look like more of an average to moderately fit guy. Instead of a Jonah Hex mouth, I wanted him to look like he'd gotten his face badly burnt or otherwise mutilated, and it never healed properly. It almost makes him look like Two-Face.

Hope you enjoy it!

Honestly, this makes more sense for a Batman/Green Lantern cross than what we originally got. The armor is slick as fuck, and I also really like the lighting effects you have going on

SO COOL!!!!
