Here is Candy at 15, shortly before she takes her final exam. During the exam she has to prove in a fight that she is a worthy warrior and if she passes, she gets the tattoos.
To practice for the exam, the girls go out into the wild and hunt strong monsters. The girls usually team up with the boys. The girls fight, the boys equip the girls with weapons. During the exam, the boys are also tested, with the candidates going into battle with the boys' weapons.
Both have passed (the boy/craftsman and the girl/fighter) if the monster has been defeated and the boy's weapon is still intact.
