I'm quite proud of this one, and the next :)

I've been on a DKR high recently, I've read the graphic novel and watched the movie a few times, trying to get back into reading comics again. I've been neglecting them for a while now.

Doing this was not hard per se but it took me a little trial and error. I had to do some light studies on my sketchbook to see if I could emulate Klaus Janson’s inks, thankfully it worked out fine. Translating it to Krita was quite easy, my sketching was pretty fast, but I made an awful mistake in trying to copy Lynn Varley’s coloring with watercolor (Krita has a few watercolor brushes). The end result was a blotted mess. It didn’t look like Dark Knight Returns, it looked like Sonichu.

So, in the end I decided to experiment and use more solid brushes for the colors, and shade them with a low opacity charcoal brush. I really liked the end result, gave that ‘rough’ look we see in the printed page.

Also, I know, risky choice for Carrie, but what the hell.

I like it, although I'm very confused about where you were going with this tbh

MrHokey responds:

It's "The Dark Knight Returns" but with Mermaid Man. I adapted one of the splash pages from the comic...
