So for Dwayne's dad I went with an authoritative and protective "Commissioner Gordon" type appearance. In his youth Jason had a friendly rivalry with George Mackleigh. Both had a motorcycle race along snake-road ridge to impress Diane but during the race Jason got badly wounded and George got drafted into Vietnam shortly thereafter. Jason wanted to fight for his country too (If but only to look after his best friend) but because of his injuries he was temporarily confined to a wheelchair. Diane nursed him back to health and during that time both of them fell in love. Jason became one of the town's pastors and gave people hope during very turbulent times. (Unbeknowst to most of Gutterdelve's towns-folk he was also a vigilante who would make murderers, rapists, and child molesters conveniently "disappear". He and Oswald Hecklin would sometimes "team up" as they had picked up the same mantle.)

When Betty manipulated people's memories, Jason recalled events differently and believed he and George had been embittered enemies. Instead of recalling the motorcycle race properly he had the misleading fake recollection that George was driving drunk one day and hit Jason with his truck as Jason and Diane were having a picnic on the side of the road. (He also falsely believed he was still crippled when in truth he had recovered from those injuries with Diane's help long ago.)

Luckily after the memory merigolds wilt and die Jason regains his true memories and helps George escape Daedalus's clutches.

Like his son, Jason is a devout Catholic and a werewolf!
