Walking Test

Share

Just learning how to animate with Blender, and why not start with a simple walk cycle...this took me way longer than I would've wanted.

On top of that it gave me an excuse to practice how to animate tails and ears a little more

The ears were a pain in the ass to animate properly (still don't like the final result), but the tail was pretty fun to make even if it took a few tries to get it right.

The third one shows-off what my guides looked like, the face one was really simple to do, while the ear one took forever to find something decent, and the tail guide was mostly useless as I pretty much only used it to show me which direction the body was bobbing.

And as a bonus, the last one has all the layers merged together

Animation specs

  • FPS: 24
  • Frames: 24 [all keyframes]
  • Duration: 1 Second

[Fun fact: This is only half a walk cycle, I just looped it in a way to make it look like it's a full walk cycle]

EDIT: Sept 25th 2024:

So turns-out ffmpeg has this neat feature that ignores every 13th frame or so (at least at 24fps), so for the longest time this animation showed only 23 of the total 24 frames. Normally I wouldn't touch an older piece like this, but since this was the only other animation I did that used ffmpeg I made this an exception. I kept most of the description identical, and only tweaked it to account for the new format.
