[SFM/Paintover] Happy New Year 2024

Share

Hello everybody. It is me Otabaro once again. Been a while since I posted something new here on Newgrounds. First of all I owe an appology for my watchers who have been waiting for the big WW2 project. I did not really have time to work on it as I had quite a lot of college duties. Bachelor thesis, final state exam and 14 days of free time. After this duty-free intermeso the college began again, and it was, and by the time I am writing this, difficult. Nevertheless, this year I have hopes of starting the post-production process on it. The SFM poster itself is rendered and ready to be put in the photoshop.

That was one thing. Now something about the plan for this year. Besides the project, I will be completely moving to Blender. I had one more idea in SFM of creating an event from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, where the mentioned faction is crossing the bridge to Limansk. In order to not waste more time in SFM I will have to scrap the project and eventually remake it in Blender. For the smaller projects, like commissions and one-character poster I will still use SFM before I teach myself how to use Blender. The 5 grade of my college should not be as difficult as it is now. So maybe there will be an official statement about the commissions. The topics of posters will mostly consist of WW2 stuff. Since I have not done anything from the Pacific theatre yet, there is a high chance of creating some poster from Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Burma, Mongolia, China×Japanb etc. But I would like to increase the area of my work. Realistic, Overwatch (even though the OW2 is a tragedy in terms of what was promised to its fans) etc. The more areas I discover, the more art services I will be available to provide you all.

Maybe you want to hear something about this image I am posting here. I did not really plan on releasing it at first as it was planned to be used only as an exercise for drawing fabric and clothes. But I invested quite a lot of time in it and it looked fairly good. So, the final decision of "perfecting" it out was made. I am not going to lie to you. I had quite a lot of problems drawing those folds. It was mostly try-fail-repeat method. I cannot imagine drawing them without watching some videos talking about the matter and studying one of the Py-Bun's poster. The folds are not perfect. But it is much better than what you can see in El-Alamein or other previous posters, where those clothes folds were not included. I feel like this experience will improve the final outcome of the big WW2 project I am promising you. But as I mentioned it is not perfect and I shall continue learning.

Alright people, that is all from me for now. I wish you all who read this a happy New Year and lots of good luck in whatever you are doing. Enjoy the last moments of 2023 the best you can. Have a drink, or two, or three,...,or maybe do not try to count them (people tend to forget quickly). Cheers!
