HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Over the course of the week, I was busy cooking this up, mainly because at the same time I was (and still am) learning how to drive. I also made this to help with blowing off some steam after getting frustrated with a few fandoms (as well as loosing interest in a few series). Negatives aside, here are my versions of some Newgrounds characters (that weren't originally human) as humans/gijinka. In case you don't know, "gijinka" is a term that refers to the act of drawing an originally non-human character as a human. I'll go and explain each of the characters and why I drew them like this.
Before we begin, it should be noted that I drew the characters with the eyes their original designs have (or at least my versions of what their eyes look like). This is because I'm not exactly good at drawing "anime-styled" eyes, and I still want the characters to look recognizable so you know which characters are which (although that applies to their designs as a whole, but I digress).
Alien Hominid:
Since Alien Hominid is, y'know, an alien, I decided to base the clothing off of astronaut gear. I was originally going to make Hominid's design a lot more simplistic, since the alien's design in canon is basically what its species in general looks like, but I decided to be a little more creative with it since I figured just slapping a yellow shirt on the design would be a bit boring. And yes, that is an angry faic sticker on the front of the gear; I was initially going to add more stickers, but I figured there wouldn't be enough room (since the arm is blocking a bit of the front).
Dad's son:
While the main duo of Dad n' Me are humanoid, I'm pretty sure they're meant to be monsters or something. As such, I wanted to do Dad's son for this as he's a lot smaller than his father and is more easy to draw (even if in the overall design they basically look the same). I wanted to make him look like some kind of "bully", since he basically spends his debut game beating up other kids, hence the big purple jacket and zipper covering his mouth. The skull in his original design is now a mask that he uses to cover his face.
Ritz:
Ritz actually has clothing in his original design, so coming up with his human appearance wasn't too hard. I actually based it on the way Ninjamuffin99 looks like, since he's Ritz's creator. Also, since Ritz is confirmed to be BF's adoptive brother, I also took some inspiration from BF himself for the design, hence why he sorta looks like BF in this.
Snowball:
Now, Snowball has more of an explanation for his design here compared to the others. Since Bunnykill is based off of Madness Combat, I kind of wanted Snowball to look a little like Hank, even if that's only the case with the scarf here. Speaking of the scarf, I styled it after Snowball's ears, as I had no idea how the implement the ears in the human design aside from that (I could've just had Snowball's human design have fake bunny ears, but imo I wanted him to look a little more like Hank with the scarf). The scarf and boots (aka Winter gear) were also added to reference Snowball's name as well.
So those were my designs for a few NG characters if they were humans. What do you think of them? How would you have drawn them instead? Let me know down below, I'll be happy to read your responses.
cute
thx
These desgins look really awesome Elis! You did a great job here, I'm bit curios what a human P-Bot would look like
Thank you! I'm actually debating drawing P-Bot as a human (as well as the NG bots in general), since I'm not sure what his skin tone would be, but since there's plenty of robots/cyborgs in media with skin tones, maybe that'll come into fruition.
