Holiday card I made to send to all my friends and remind them of my fantasy comic I was still working on.
Wanted to kind of capture the vibe of 1920s Leyendecker Christmas paintings but went totally overboard.
WIP below
Gradually flattened the perspective as I looked at more and more Leyendecker ref but went hyper on all the details, card is only about 6" at the widest
I like it. it is very different. I also sometimes go hyper on all the details...for a day or so. then i zoom out with the mousewheel and get sad, because everything suddenly has a sparkling highlight and a black hole as shadow. you however did it in a very charming way. it makes me want to look at it for a longer time.
