The Saint and his Lifemate

Share

Again, two rpg characters of Warhammer 40k.
I used colored pencils for this pic, no photoshop.

Oh, and under the picture is written, in case, it is not readable:

"So, weren't you the one who called me b****? May I introduce my lifemate to you? He is the saint Sanguinius and he isn't fond of people who call me names..."

OK

The details on the wings make this alright, the pose in itself is menacing, but the proportions seem a bit off. His head seems a bit too small to me. overall, this is not very special or extremely good, IMO. All characters are cleverly avoiding having (most of) their hands visible, which is of course a useful method of avoiding to draw them.

So. the character in the forground is presenting her saint lifemate. And here is the problem of the hand-hiding. The saint has a well thought out pose, but she should really doing more than stand there with the hands behind her back. Like present him, be in a more dynamic pose overall. She doesn't seem like she's talking to someone, threatening him/her, more like she's waiting for the bus.

So overall, this picture is ok, not really good but not too bad either.

Shati responds:

Um, have you tried looking at it in full size? You may see there that she has her hands on her hips, and is not hiding them.
And I admit that I have my big problem with hands. They are really bitchy to draw and I never get them a 100% right....
Thank you again, I enjoy your reviews.

again

needs some stronger coloring and shading, darkness and contrast, try going into all the pencil outlines with an ink pen or marker before you color it to give the scan some better features, but other than that its an ok picture
