This was a lot of fun! Always a fan of how flash photography looks, especially from a polaroid camera, and it was high time I tried to replicate the look. Wound up doing a fair bit of planning too, so here's some of the sketches and doodles involved, hope you enjoy them:

The initial thumbnail sketch that started it all! Done hurriedly at midnight, I was surprised at how quickly things came together. While I'm glad I moved away from the more slender body type, I'm somewhat regretful that I didn't leave at least one realistic cockroach in there (Though then again, maybe it'd have been too on the nose?)...

Various incredibly rough character design sketches, done over the course of a week between other projects! There's a gradual shift from the usual 'cranky' eyes I do to a more 'kind' look, mainly because roaches themselves are curious, nervous little creatures. It somewhat conflicts with the 'punk/goth' aesthetic of the design, but in a cute 'tsundere' way, I hope? I wish I kept the torn leggings, but alas, I didn't plan ahead and they looked weird in the final piece...

A 'final-ish' sketch done before I got to work on the final piece! While I played with the idea of striped panties to represent the abdomen, I decided that was a little too perverted to roll with. I ditched the thigh high stockings too, despite making it this far into planning, though that's more because it's way too overplayed a design element these days...
