Aphotic Zed is from the same mantis species as Zed. During their time in containment, they became brothers to one another. However, a breakout happened. Zed, along with the other creatures, escaped. except for Aphotic Zed. So he waited... and waited... and waited... yet Zed never came back. Even as he was being brought back for experimentation, he still held on the hope that Zed would come back. Yet it was all futile. He underwent the same experimentation as his brother, but instead of getting all the positives he got all the negatives and the color drained from his body. In a fit of rage he escaped and immediately sought after Zed. It took awhile, but he found the city he was in. He saw him and ran to him... but he froze. He saw his brother surrounded by new friends. A new family. This broke him. From that day on he vowed to be a shadow to Zed, to ruin the image he built up.
