HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Under request from Roku, these are some boss sprites for his currently unnamed game (Which I call Atariman, personally. Since these original sprites were based on the colour palette and these are boss sprites, so are much bigger than the enemies.)
Since these probably won't be final as all the sprites will be twice the res, I figured I'd post these original smaller ones. Since it's their first draft, some came out great, some came out a touch too rough. Anyway, enjoy.
Princess of Heart is the first one I made, and probably the best, quite happy with how it turned out, really giving the feeling of a princess who's own emotions have gone dark and trapped her in her own heart. The style just works so damn well for that one. And that's why she's the first to show, the concept is just conveyed so well. With the nice touch of Gloves, and her flowing hair. Really feels like she's had her heart broken.
Next is the Princess of Spades. Second Design I had made. I always have seen the spade as a very blade like suit card, so I wanted to convey that with this design here. A cold sharp uncaring Princess who rules through blade. As if she had gotten her kingdom back purely through having to kill to reclaim it.
The 3rd design, the Princess of Club. Didn't turn out as well as I wanted, the plant element is on point but the princess herself is basically invisible. She's meant to be in the upper middle of the Club, sort of upside down, but it really is hard to tell. It's certainly a design I'll come back to when I get to remake the design in the higher res. Though a design should always be strong enough to see key details without having to rely on size or more detailing, in my eyes, so I really want to come back to it.
Princess of Diamonds, the Forth Design. I love the concept I made here, of a Princess who's caught in her own vanity, reflecting herself and so you get this 4 point look of her. A princess who sees herself above everyone else And it fits right into that Royal Card feel. But it's a little hard to tell at first that the figures on the side are 4 versions of her. If I ever come back to the smaller version of this, I'd like to clean it up, make that more clear, and shrink the Diamond a bit to make more room for her 4 reflections. And a crown atop her head.
Also, the main character was a prince of Diamond (Long story short, there's multiple families that occupy the title of Diamond, through wealth rather than pure Monachy, but he ran away from his position, and arranged marriage to her. At least that's the idea that this character was made in)
And finally, Joker Princess, The Final one, a Princess with no Kingdom of her own.
Roku and I considered her the main antagonist as well as sort of the "final" Princess. Her head was actually designed before all the other princesses but didn't finish the body till just now)
She's got quite alot of personality, and I imagine her being a very slippery and mischievous kind of person.
