Intro:

For over a thousand years, the world of Terra Prime has been at peace.  After the victory of the valiant Guardians over the cruel Xenilians.  But time has made the Guardians weaker, lazy, and corrupted.  And the Xenilians have licked their wounds and nursed their rage.

And now, they want vengeance.

And the only thing standing in their way is… a small slip-space gate repair crew?

Story:

“~Many thousands of years ago, civil war ravaged Terra Prime as the brave Guardians fought against the brutal Xenilians.  After enos of fighting, the honorable Guardians finally forced the enemy off their world and the Xenilians retreated to the far reaches of the outer rim.~”

“~And ever since, the Guardians had watched over their dominion, keeping a keen eye out for any evil that may darken their homeworld.  And inspire countless souls yet to be born.~”

“What a load of stupid crap!”

As the history propaganda video finishes, Godzilla turned to the cranky old voice of Caesar as he walked up behind him.

“Why do you keep watching this history stuff, cap?” the lion Kaiju asked while he crossed his arms.

Godzilla turned back to the console at his control seat and said, “‘The future belongs to those who learn from the past.’” he paused for a moment, “at least, that’s how I think that saying goes…”

Caesar scoffed, “Oh, look around, Godzilla.  The great war ended a long time ago.  Those ‘glory’ days are long gone.”

Godzilla glanced back at the elder Kaiju, “But you were there Caesar, you saw some action.  What were the Xenilians really like?” he asked in a serious tone.

After a moment’s pause, the old lion sighed, “Trust me lad, you are better off not knowing…” he then hitched his thumb at something, “Besides, looks like the rookies could use a hand.”

Godzilla followed the thumb… and felt his gaze flattened out into a disappointed glare at what he saw outside his star ship.

Just outside of the ‘Valiant’ class ship, the Dauntless, he saw one of his five strong crew trying to help their larger than life member, Destoroyah, as she hung upside down.  Her pincer tail seemed to be stuck in the rock of the asteroid they were working near.

“~Come on, hurry up!  I don’t want to hang here all day.~” the red devil Kaiju said to the other crew member over the commlink.

The other member, a horned vulture Kaiju named Rodan, reposed back, “~Just hang in there, Des.  Almost got it.~”

Godzilla, the black scaled dinosaur Kaiju, rolled his eyes and groaned in frustration.  Finally he stood up and activated his own commlink and began talking into it, “What’s the situation out there, Anguirus?” he asked.

“~It’s worse than we thought, Cap.  The only way this slip-space gate will open now is if someone opens from the other side.~” came the reply from the armadillo Kaiju.

Godzilla sighed, “Noted.  Me and Caesar are coming out there, sit tight.” he said to the commlink.

“~See you in a bit, boss.~”

“Roger.  Out.” Godzilla tapped the commlink in his ear and turned to Caesar, “Let’s head out.” he said to the elder Kaiju.

Caesar growled in annoyance, but followed the Captain off the bridge to the airlock.  As they walked through the cargo bay of the Dauntless, Godzilla started talking to the old lion.

“Do you ever have that feeling that you were born for something… more and not just fixing gates?” the young Captain questioned.

The lion Kaiju’s gaze softened and thought about it for a moment, “I don’t know about that, but sometimes I think that what we do now is pointless.  We went from glory and honor, to lazy and corrupted.  That’s all I know.” he said bitterly.

Godzilla narrowed his eyes and looked at the floor as they walked, “I hear that.” he said softly.

Finally they reached the airlock.  Godzilla pushed a button, and the airlock doors opened, allowing Godzilla and Caesar to step inside.  The doors closed behind them and another set of doors opened in front of them.

Text saying: ‘Main ship gravity shutting down.’ appeared on the screen dashboard on the wall.  Soon followed by the sound of alarms and warning light flashing.

Soon the ship was depressurized and the gravity shut off.  And the last set of bulkheads opened up to open space.  While thankfully, the crew of the ‘Dauntless’ didn’t need oxygen to survive, it was still a standard thing on all Guardian starships.

Once that was done, the ship's captain and engineer left the ship to start helping the other crew members.

This was going to be for a fanfic project, but I scrapped it cuz I thought it would be dumb. Anyway, hope you all like it. Peace out.
