looking at this reminds me, I think if Sonic.exe existed in the Sonic canon, I'd have him be apart of another dimension that happens to be similar to Sonic's (with the soul characters being counterparts of the other characters)

Sonic’s Grim World is just a Sonic au that just so happens to have Sonic.exe in it, not a Sonic.exe au.
