Murphy and Mitzi in Xtreme Business!

Share

Here's a scan of a Mitzi & Murphy comic I found in an old issue of Diz-Nee Ventures Magazine!

This was my first go at a "page-sized" comic, mostly because I want to do tons more of these in the future, and hopefully spanning multiple pages. I wanted to do a sort of comic gift for AJMarekArt first, which came into my head imagining not just Murphy and Mitzi as a cartoon series but as a tie-in comic featured in a magazine! I even wanted to make it look like it was scanned by balancing details and filters.

But the problem was thinking of a decent script, but it was when @wikiascratchboy came in and wrote tons of scripts based on their misadventures, even alternate-universe reimaginings. It was the chance to see his natural writing talent come to life in the form of a comic, and I wanted to do it with justice.

Yet another problem happened; finding a good way to draw this. The comics I drew in the past were always three or one paneled, but I wanted to try A4-sized pages, which I hadn't tackled before and was sorta nervous to do. This overall ended up being test of how many angles and view shots i could cram into one comic to convey every panel, to the point of adding notes into the script but remaining the words unchanged. I did my best to study the artstyle and stuff used in comics, not only keeping things on-model, but simplifying the style, except I wanted to push the expressions and stuff.

It also ended up taking longer than expected because not only it was something new I am trying and realising the sheer scale of minimal detail I have to put in every panel without outright rushing it. Despite it all, it was still a new an interesting experience and hopefully I'll do more of these comic-based drawings in the future...

You and Wikia did such a great job on this! Very cute and awesome!

Neat comic! :D It got the comic sounds too!

I'm so glad I was able to help out! Definitely looking forward to seeing more of these in the future, I really do feel like my scripts lend to some really awesome things when, y'know actually put into a visual format :D
