I made this bird boy character when I was having a hard time looking for a way to ear money and it feels like the only food I can eat is good enough to make a bird full. It might be something that has a double meaning such as just feeding my creative needs than my actual physical needs. The boy in the painting fed his heart to the birds and I think that enough for him. There's really no point in life if he doesn't feed the birds.

Also there's an episode of Hey Arnold where in Arnold met a pigeon man that talked about how he understands birds more than humans and I just really think it's similarly related to the character of this boy. There's a genuine understanding that this character cares but at the same time, they're in pain and they're going through some tough challenges in life.
