EBF5 Foe Contest: The Chessmen

The first of my entries to the EBF5 Foe Competition! This one was jointly designed by @IrishChieftain and myself. We'd been playing an awful lot of chess and we thought, what if they functioned like the Idols in EBF, but with each piece having a property of its own?
(Those black spots to the left of some pieces are eyes.)
They come in black and white varieties, black being associated with darkness / fire / electricity and white being associated with light / water / ice.
Sketchbooked these things over two hours. Loved doing this a lot. <3
Wow, I really like those designs! It could open to interesting strategies.
Oooh and a Chessboard area! :O

I remember Matt saying in the original post that there was meant to be an old castle area. Wonder if these would come into play...
Very cool. A little out of your normal gimp machine though. Good job on changing it up!
