Omnia the Purple

Share

This was a request by my fiancé, Seán; he asked if I could draw his OC, Omnia the Purple, a sorcerer-type, for use in his roleplays and things. He starts a Dungeons & Dragons campaign tomorrow and I wanted to have this ready by then. This OC became known as Omnia the Purple because prior to me designing this character, Seán was given a purple wizard piece for his previous tabletop campaign on Hero Quest -- and he's stuck with it since.

So I set to work last night, and finished it a night later. I don't normally have this much trouble with lights and shadows on things, but this one was the hardest for me by far. I'm considering it as done as I can make it at this point -- I enjoyed designing him, but doing the lights and shadows and minor details, especially the chainmail, was an exercise in not exploding and tearing my hair out and screaming in frustration.

My primary inspiration was Fire Emblem, but there were others as well (Jak & Daxter, Kingdom Hearts for the cloak, etc., etc.)

Drawn on FireAlpaca.

Really nice work

I like the character you have here today, I think if you added some sort of "BAVKROUND" here that would be one idea of improving onto this and that purple "GLOBE" you could also have some more sparkle and shine on that, now these are just a few ideas that you could improve on.

~~THINGS TO IMPROVE ON~~
A few shine and sparkle effects would be a nice addition.

Great job on the shading and detail of the cape and armor. Where you need to work is on the posture of the character its too feminine, the facial structure is too feminine as well. The hair line, cheek bones and jaw line are off. Overall good work though keep at it.

For some reason I really expected this one to be female, both from thumb and title I think... but either way he turned out great though. The chainmail looked a bit like a knitted sweater at first, until the description revealed its true nature (though in retrospect the glitter should've been a hint) - also think the color gives another impression there. Overall a great design, with so much detail in every line. Really like how the cape branches out into the darkness in particular. Spawn-like effect.
