Happy 40th anniversary to the Spanish release of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, here's a loose redraw of a shot from that scene where a certain someone says "Here's Johnny" but it's not the shot where he does that because I liked this shot more as far as drawing was concerned.

There are over 20K lines in this and I started it well over a week ago. Not my neatest or best drawing this year, in my opinion anyways, but I'm still happy with it. Might not publish any more drawings this year since there's so little left to go, but we'll see.

Merry Christmas

Very artistic

This was a nice and artistic piece some good artistic expression and thats what I enjoyed about it, it really came out well I am most impressed with this, and like the different visual variations of color here, it was a nice art piece here keep up the great work.

oh i just love it. Keep doing that wonderful work of yours, hedgehog!!

Urichov responds:

I'll certainly try

Absolutely stunning
Kubrick's interpretation of The Shining is my favorite of all his films and this really captures the atmosphere.

The red version makes it feel so alarming

Urichov responds:

Thanks. The idea of the red version only showed up at the last minute. I was originally going to do just a sort of beige or cream colour like the last time I did something in this style but decided to muck about and thought this looked better.

I think the not-neatness makes it very charming. I love this 😁

Urichov responds:

Thanks man. I was banking on the charm so I'm glad to see my nefarious plans worked out >:)

So much shading... the style really brings for the foreboding in it, though I can't say if it seems more so with the red tone or no, it's almost like the scene speaks more for itself without the added color but... yeah, red version probably has more of a horror movie vibe going on! A tone of madness. It does add something.

Might not be the neatest but I like the style. And appreciate the effort. You can feel the darkness too this way. Grainy and creeping. Without connotation it might also simply look like a snowy winter scene somewhere, yet the architecture still has that something special to it. Somehow spooky by itself. Also maybe somehow a little less spooky with visible people before it.

But nice homage with or without! Happy 40th to the one and only! Still remember the filming helicopter's shadow not properly hidden, playing as they drive towards the hotel. :) Maybe more clearly than those final moments. Times when everything wasn't all as perfect but oh so atmospheric!

Urichov responds:

I was considering going yellow like the Saul Bass poster and then just ended up messing around until the pink happened and I was like I like this so I went with it. Possibly some underlying desire to draw attention in the thumbnail influenced that but who's to say.

Don't know what to say to everything else you wrote except thanks.
